Granular boric acid is a common and relatively safe insecticide. When used appropriately, boric acid will abrade the exoskeletons of beetles, roaches, and other insects. Once in the insect's system, boric acid affects their nervous system and metabolism, quickly killing them.

I use this in my pool and it works great. Dissolves well with no visible impurities.
