Heat stress from summer continues to affect performance for months, decreas ing production and reproduction as cows struggle to rebound from complications such as heat stress. High yielding cows are most susceptible to heat stress. The
Low-Line Feed Bunk Sprinkler/Soaker System keeps cows cool by dispersing a spray of water just inches above their backs. The low line mounting produces less “drift” of water spray. Soaker is better for dairy; sprinklers let water sit on
hair coat, sometimes not reaching the skin. Every system is custom designed to fit each individual barn’s needs.

The C-440S controller is used to regulate the showering and interval cycles in a dairy cow cooling system. It has output to control up to four 24 VAC electric valves. The valves are activated in sequence to reduce water capacity demands on your system. This easy to program controller can be set to operate either in 2-stage mode or smart mode. 2-stage mode provides traditional 2-level cooling - a lower intensity cooling cycle operates when the temperature is above the low threshold. A higher intensity cooling cycle operates when the temperature is above the high threshold.

Smart mode provides innovative, infinite stage cooling. Interval time is automatically adjusted as the temperature changes. The interval time is the period of time when no showering occurs and the water is allowed to evaporate from the cows. As temperature increases, the interval time will decrease, thus giving animals more frequent shower cycles, to reduce heat stress. This provides exactly the right amount of cooling at any temperature while minimizing water usage.

The C-440S can monitor up to 4 separate temperature probes to allow accurate cooling in different zones. One temperature probe is pre-wired into the controller at the factory. If additional probes are desired, they will need to be wired into the controller on site.

Indirect Cooling:

There is a Mister/Fogger Mode – the cycle duration stays the same, but the misting duration changes according to temperature, For example, as the temperature increases from the High Temp to the Max Temp. the mist duration increases.

Direct Cooling:

In a Soaker Mode – the soak duration stays the same, but the cycle duration automatically changes according to the temp. For example, as the temp increases from High Temp to Max Temp, the cycle decreases.

Poor feed conversion, reduced feed intake, lower conception rates, early embryonic deaths, and even deaths of mature animals can result when hogs are exposed to abundant heat. Our innovative, easy-to-use and cost-effective Drip-Cool and Spray-Cool systems curb the far-reaching impacts of heat stress on sows, boars, and finishing hogs. Wetting the hog’s hide for brief periods of time with a drip or coarse spray is the most successful technique for cooling swine.
